1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone (PMP) commonly known as Edaravone, has a molecular formula of C10H10N2O, a molecular weight of 174.2, and is white crystal or powder. It is soluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol and benzene, and insoluble in ether, petroleum ether and cold water. It is mainly used as a raw material for the production of pharmaceuticals such as antipyrine, aminopyrine, and anmenidine, and is also used in dyes and color film dyes, pesticides and organic synthesis industries.

Applications
- It is mainly used to synthesize pyrazolone anti-pyretic and analgesic drugs such as analgin,anti-pyrine and aminopyrine;
- lt is also the intermediate of pyrazolone acid dyessuch as acid mordant red BN,YONGGu yellow G,color film dyes, pesticides and other fine chemicals;
- lt is used as a reagent for the determination ofcobalt, copper, iron, nickel, silver and vitamin B12.lt is also used in the synthesis of dyes.
