Corn gluten meal (CGM) is a by-product from processing corn grains in the starch and food fermentation industries in China. It is a high-protein ingredient, containing about 60% protein, with a distinct taste and natural color. CGM is used primarily as animal feed, including for fish, and is valued for being more affordable and readily available compared to fish meal and soybean meal.
Produced from the wet-milling process, CGM is a residue that doesn’t require further processing and is free from toxic substances. It appears as a fine, golden-yellow granular powder. In addition to its high protein content, CGM also provides lutein and essential amino acids, making it a suitable and cost-effective protein source in animal feeds.
