Product Introduction
HPMC E6 is a medium-low viscosity grade of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose, specifically developed for pharmaceutical applications. As a non-ionic, water-soluble cellulose ether derived from natural cellulose, it provides excellent performance in film coating, binding, and controlled-release formulations.
Compared with lower viscosity grades such as E3, HPMC E6 offers improved film strength and viscosity balance, making it particularly suitable for more demanding coating and formulation processes.

Applications
- Binder in Tablets: It is commonly used as a binder in tablet formulations, helping to hold the ingredients together and ensuring uniformity in tablet weight and strength.
- Controlled Release: HPMC E6 is employed in controlled-release formulations, allowing for a gradual release of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) over time.
- Thickening Agent: In liquid formulations, HPMC E6 acts as a thickening agent, improving viscosity and stability.
- Film Coating: It can be used for film coating of tablets, providing a protective layer that can improve stability, mask taste, and enhance appearance.
- Stabilizer in Emulsions: HPMC E6 serves as a stabilizer in emulsions, helping to maintain the dispersion of ingredients.
- Matrix Formulation: In extended-release tablets, it forms a gel matrix that controls the release of drugs.
